Study Spot #10: Joe & the Juice

If you like pumping music, a chill-out atmosphere, and a laid back vibe, Joe & the Juice is the best coffee shop for you to study at in New York City!

Joe & the Juice, Inside The Oculus
Very few NYC coffee shops have as much comfy seating at Joe & the Juice! Depending on your hearing, the wide array of squishy couches and winged-back chairs almost makes up for the super loud music played throughout the shop. Don't get me wrong, I love the re-mix tunes they play, but when I'm studying, I prefer a little more peaceful music. Nonetheless, I study at Joe & the Juice often and stay until closing at 9:00PM.

Joe's wide array of creative juice ingredients range from kale to kiwi, and raspberries to red bell pepper. With over 25 blended-in-front-of-you juices, a few espressos, and sandwiches, you'll be all set from breakfast to dinner.

Yes, the juice baristas have a thing about pouring juice into cups on their foreheads  No extra charge for the show.

There are several locations throughout New York City. Two in Lower Manhattan, one in midtown, and another around Rockefeller Square at 54th Street.

Study Spot #9: Kaffe 1668

Kaffe 1668, North

You've never been more cozy than you'll be when you're studying at Kaffe 1668.

When I'm here, surrounded by fluffy sheep, rustic wood, and tea candles, I can't help but want to stay forever! Which is okay because this coffee shop doesn't close it's doors until 10:00PM on weekdays! (9:00PM on weekends)

Kaffe 1668's website shows off their hip (and funny) side with hilarious home-drawn illustrations. Also on their website is a full menu, including an Acai Smoothie Bowl for $8.99.

When I come to Kaffe 1668, I like to order a latte to stay (don't you just love sipping coffee out of a thick mug?) and take it to the corner table. The tables are small so you'll need to scoot the cute tea candle over a little to make room for your laptop. The wifi (code: "ilovesheep") is strong, letting you zip through your work.

Kaffe 1668, South
Kaffe 1668 has two locations in New York City, both are on Greenwich Street in Tribeca. The first, 'South', is a little smaller, with big windows out front and a few wall-benches with comfy throw pillows and more seating downstairs. 'North' is larger, with more seating, is a little more cozy, and open an hour later on weekends.

Kaffe 1668, North

You may be able to catch some stars grabbing coffee at Kaffe 1668, where the storefront is as incognito as they try to be.

But you for sure can catch me here, hanging out with Kaffe 1668's cute baristas and fluffy sheep any time of the day. Whats your favorite spot to sit in Kaffe 1668? Have you tried the breakfast menu? Which barista caught your eye? Share your experience in a comment below!

Study Spot #8: Gotan

"Gotan pays tribute to an infinite and evolving coffee Culture. Each day we strive to deliver an exceptional hospitality experience. We offer a distinguished product, a dramatic yet comfortable and intimate space, communal tables, and wifi. At Gotan, we are simply passionate about the good things that life has to offer."
Gotan, Tribeca
Gotan NYC's communal tables and organic kitchen will have you feeling like you're back at the old farm house, sharing a meal with the oldest of friends. In reality, you're just across the street from the 2/3 train at Chambers Street and you're sharing a table with other people trying to get their work done. But the somewhat Swedish reminiscent ambiance is no less spectacular.

On the Terrace at Gotan, Tribeca
The best feature of this coffee shop is the outdoor seating. Consistent with Tribeca's terraced doorsteps, Gotan has a wrap around "porch" with tables, chairs, and sun umbrellas. Anytime before 3:00pm, the chairs out front will have direct sunlight. Be sure to wear your sunscreen!

When the NYC winter moves in, so do we. You can find a nice place to sit either at a communal table or at the bar seats facing out the large windows into the square in front of Gotan. There are plenty of power plugs and the wifi is strong.

Gotan, Tribeca
When lunchtime hits, snag a sandwich from Gotan's all-organic kitchen.
You'll need to plan your time at Gotan wisely because this coffee shop closes at the early hour of 5:00pm. If you're looking for something open a little later, Gotan's Williamsburg location on Wythe Avenue stays open until 6:00pm.

Think Coffee, Mercer Street

With a unique twist on the traditional coffee shop, Think Coffee on Mercer Street doubles as a laid back bar/lounge in the evenings. You can come in the afternoon to work on your laptop with Think's free wifi, and stay until closing at 11:00PM for drinks with friends.

La Colombe, NOHO
With eight New York City cafes from Wall Street to Bryant Park, La Colombe Coffee Roasters provides a simple and spacious place to whip out your laptop and sip coffee from developing countries such as Haiti and Papua New Guinea.

La Colombe, NOHO
One of the best aspects of La Colombe NOHO is that it has huge windows looking out at the street and the afternoon sunlight streams in. Nothing else makes me happier than to feel sun on my skin, even when I'm studying!

La Colombe isnt open late, only until 6:30, so be sure to get there with enough time to get your work done before closing. Stay until 6:30 and maybe the nice barista will offer you a pastry!
